Edith Lee is passionate about contemporary abstract art, in particular, the relationship between colour, texture and form. Without formal art school training, her creative inspiration comes from her travelling logs and multi-cultural experience. Guided through inner mind and intuition, her raw emotions are translated to imagery. She collects these shards of her core and records their transformation through creating. She believes that everyone is the maker of their own journey, and her artworks spread this spirit.
Artwork concept – “Coexistence”
The balanced structure of the artwork is achieved by mutual support of the two metal components of the sculpture, symbolizing co-existence and reciprocal respect of entities inherently different in nature. The two metal components in wavy form are made of contrasting materials, representing diversity in the extremes of resilience and softness. While living in harmony, both possess boundaries that retain individual uniqueness, which is re-created by visual effects of lighting through perforated metal sheets.
“The inspiration is from a drawing I did during my working holiday in Melbourne.”
